This month of June, I would like to share with The Holy Spirit and His works. The message for today is titled ”

Rev. Dr. Joyce R. Aryee

“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth.  He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come.” – John 16:13 (NIV)

God Himself has given us His Holy Spirit as our Counselor, One who walks alongside us to help us to live the Christian life by guiding us and advising us about the right things to do.  He is the One who turns our inadequacies into strengths, enabling us to cope with the inevitable struggles of the Christian life.  He is God’s presence with us, leading us deeper and deeper in the truths of God concerning sin, righteousness and judgement. Without the Holy Spirit it is impossible to know God’s truth, who is Jesus Christ, let alone apply the truths Jesus reveals to our daily lives.

There is no doubt that we need the Holy Spirit so that we can have the full enjoyment and fulfillment of our lives here on earth and look forward with joy to our future glory with Christ before the Father.

As Jesus told His disciples in John 16:13, the Holy Spirit is the One who guides us into all truth.  So let us learn more about the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit.

Even though we cannot see Him, the Holy Spirit is a Person.  I know most of us know that God is Spirit and we therefore do not expect to see Him with our physical eyes but it is amazing how as believers we reduce the Holy Spirit to the level of a vague influence or mystical idea.  Even when He is guiding us and directing us, you and I are apt to say: ‘something told me not to go or something told me to enter my boss’s office and when I got there, I found the file I thought was missing.’  How often we shamefully treat the Holy Spirit, ignoring His existence and misunderstanding His ministry.

The Holy Spirit tells us that He is a Person who wants to communicate and make Himself real to us through our inner being. He is right inside our life situations, communicating with us, opening Himself up to us and expecting us to respond to Him by opening ourselves to Him.  As a person, He speaks to us personally. The Holy Spirit is the Third Person in the Trinity and that is why we say Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The Power of the Holy Spirit is available to us to help us break stubborn habits.  He is able to help us win the battle with temptation freeing us from bondage to sin and guilt.

Prayer point: Pray that the Holy Spirit helps you to win the battle with temptation. Ask Him to help you break all bad habits.
