STAY AWAY FROM VERBAL SIN

This week we focus on the study of Colossians Chapter three. Paul wrote this letter to the people of Colosse to combat errors in the church and to show that believers have everything they need in Christ. I will be sharing with you some selected notes from the Life Application Study Bible (NLT). Enjoy

SCRIPTURE TEXT: “Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds.” –Colossians 3 : 9 (NLT)

Lying to one another disrupts unity by destroying trust. It tears down relationships and may lead to serious conflict in a church. So don’t exaggerate statistics, pass on rumors and gossip, or say things to build up your own image. Be committed to telling the truth.

Jesus wants to clean your life and your church of sexual sin and verbal sin. There is no place in the Kingdom of God for hedonistic sexual experimentation or for gossip, rage, and back-biting. In their place, witness to the world like a lighthouse on a stormy night by displaying love, faith, and hope.

  1. We were told as children to” speak the truth and shame the devil” Satan is the father of lies and we please him when we lie and give him a foothold in our lives, enhancing his influence. These days we even have white lies ,but Paul says to the Ephesians” speak the truth in love” That way there is no need to lie.
