“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit–fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.” – John 15:16
‘God’s Spirit, who is in you, is greater than the devil, who is in the world.’ – 1 John 4:4 NCV
Satan’s a fallen angel who wasn’t satisfied to worship God; he wanted God’s throne for himself. Angels, like humans, were made to serve and worship God. And they were given free will; otherwise, how could they worship? But Satan said, ‘I will make myself like the Most High’ (Isaiah 14:14 NIV).
“…Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it…” – Psalm 81:10, NLT
Do you have your mouth open wide today? In other words, are you expecting God to fill you and increase you beyond measure? Are you ready for Him to satisfy your needs and desires with good things?
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9 (NIV)
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” – John 15:1-5
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9 (NIV)
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. – Ephesians 2:10
“Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” But he replied, “Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death.”
Jesus answered, “I tell you, Peter, before the rooster crows today, you will deny three times that you know me.” – Luke 22:31-34
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
The major conflict in the believer’s life is to maintain an unbroken attitude of reliance upon the Spirit. Only in that way can the Spirit possess and vitalize every human faculty, emotion and choice. We cannot meet tomorrow’s issues today. To walk is to take after another and this demands a constant appropriation of the power of God. That is spirituality. That is the Spirit-filled life – the unhindered manifestation of the indwelling Spirit. Lewis Sperry Chafer
