SPIRITUAL BATTLE

SCRIPTURE TEXT: “…your strength must come from the Lord’s mighty power within you.  Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand safe against all strategies and tricks of Satan.  For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against persons without bodies – the evil rulers of the unseen world, those mighty satanic beings and great evil princes of darkness who rule this world: and against huge numbers of wicked spirits in the spirit world. So use every piece of God’s armor to resist the enemy whenever he attacks, and when it is all over, you will still be standing up”—Eph. 6: 10-13
Life is war, so says our local adage, and how true it is especially when we try to live godly and righteous lives.

Indeed, every believer discovers at one time or another that the Christian life is a battleground – not a playground and that the enemy we face is much stronger than we are.  Only the Lord God is stronger than the enemy of our souls. Every believer must realize that the enemy does not fight fair – in fact he uses very foul means in order to achieve his diabolical goal – to destroy our walk and thus keep us estranged from God our Father.

But Praise God – In our battle with Satan and his coterie of demons we do not fight merely to win because we are already fighting from a position of victory!  Christ Jesus has defeated Satan.  Indeed, the Bible tells us that: You were dead in sins, and your sinful desires were not yet cut away. Then He gave you a share in the very life of Christ, for He forgave all your sins, and blotted out the charges proved against you, the list of His commandments which you had not obeyed.  He took this list of sins and destroyed it by nailing it to Christ’s cross.  In this way God took away Satan’s power to accuse you of sin, and God openly displayed to the whole world Christ’s triumph at the cross where your sins were all taken away – (Living Bible). Jesus also tells us in John. 16:33 that `we are overcomers. The Holy Spirit enables us, by faith, to appropriate the victory we have in Jesus Christ!

STAY BLESSED
