FEED YOUR MIND WITH GOD’S WORD

“I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless. I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me” (Psalm 101:3 ESV).
You’ll hear a lot of concern these days about water pollution and air pollution. And those concerns are important.
But there may be a more important pollution in our lives: mind pollution.
The Bible tells us that what we feed our minds is just as important as what we feed our bodies.

Psalm 101:3 says, “I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless. I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me” (ESV).

11 Aspects of Righteous Living

Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent? Who may live on your holy mountain? The one whose walk is blameless, who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from their heart; whose tongue utters no slander, who does no wrong to a neighbor, and casts no slur on others; who despises a vile person but honors those who fear the Lord; who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and does not change their mind; who lends money to the poor without interest; who does not accept a bribe against the innocent. Whoever does these things will never be shaken. – Psalm 15

JESUS IS THE MANNA

I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst. — John 6:35
I have an old beat-up and marked-up copy of Thomas Watson’s All Things for Good, which I read often. Somehow I misplaced it weeks ago and had been hoping it would turn up. I finally came across it. Watson penned this book back in 1663. It is brief but weighty and never fails to yield manna. I just took a minute or two to flip carefully through the pages that could use some Scotch Continue reading “JESUS IS THE MANNA”

CALLED TO A HOLY LIFE

I am the LORD your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy – Leviticus 11:44 (NIV)

Be Holy, because I am Holy, were the words that God gave the children of Israel when by His own wisdom called them and set them apart for Himself (Lev. 11: 45).  In 1 Peter 1:16, Peter reminds believers that they are to move away from the lives they lived before and live holy lives because of the nature of the One who has called them.

DISPOSITION AND DEEDS

I am the LORD your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy – Leviticus 11:44 (NIV)Except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the Scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.  The characteristic of a disciple is not that he does good things, but that he is good in motive because he has been made good by the super-natural grace of God.  The only thing that exceeds right doing is right being.  Jesus Christ came to put into any man who would let Him a new heredity, which would exceed the righteousness of the Scribes and Pharisees.  Jesus saysif you are My disciple you must be right not only in your living, but in your motives, in your dreams, in the recesses of your mind.”  You must be so pure in your motives that God Almighty can see nothing to censure.  Who can stand in the Eternal Light of God and have nothing for God to censure?  Only the Son of God, and Jesus Christ claims that by His Redemption He can put into any man His own disposition, and make him as unsullied and as simple as a child.  The purity, which God demands is impossible unless I can be remake within, and that is what Jesus, has undertaken to do by His Redemption.

DESTINY OF HOLINESS

I am the LORD your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy – Leviticus 11:44 (NIV)
Continually restate to yourself what the purpose of your life is.  The destined end of man is not happiness, nor health, but holiness.  Nowadays we have far too many affinities, we are dissipated with them; right, good, noble affinities which will have their fulfilment, but in the meantime God has to atrophy them.  The one thing that matters is whether a man will accept the God who will make him holy.  At all costs a man must be rightly related to God.

HOLY USE OF MONEY
