|SCRIPTURE TEXT: “A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in His Mighty Power. Put on all of God’s Armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s Armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.”–Ephesians 6: 10-13 (NLT) |
In the Christian life we battle against rulers and authorities (the powerful evil forces of fallen angels headed by the devil, who is a vicious fighter). To withstand their attacks, we must depend on God’s strength and use every piece of His Armor.
Paul is not only giving this counsel to the church, the body of Christ, but to all individuals in the church. The whole body needs to be armed. As you do battle against the “mighty powers in the dark world,” fight in the strength of the church, whose power comes from the Holy Spirit.
