A DEVOTIONAL EXERCISE

Scripture:

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction  and faithful in prayer.” – Romans 12:12

Message:

Do you get the maximum spiritual satisfaction from your devotional time? How you answer this question reveals the difference between an ineffective prayer life, and one filled with an awareness of the presence of God.

In your everyday life, the opportunities for prayer become incalculable. Send up brief prayers for those who seem to be tired or disillusioned or pray thoughts of joy with those who are joyful. You need never be at a loss for things to pray for, provided you practice prayer in every situation of life.

By broadening your devotional base, your devotional times with God become more profound. While practicing praying for others, you are strengthening your ties with Jesus Christ.

Prayer:
Lord God, thank You that I may come to You in prayer for advice and guidance. Thank You for Your Spirit that teaches us to pray. Amen.

MAKE PRAYER YOUR MOTIVATIONAL POWER

Scripture:

“When you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.” – Matthew 6:7

Message:

There are many people who do not give serious thought to their prayers to God. They have a fixed pattern that used to be meaningful but through repetition has lost its meaning.

When you spend time in the presence of the living God, and you are sharing your wishes with Him, you must be seriously mindful of the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Ask Him while you pray if there is anything that you can do to make your prayer life more fertile. Believe in your prayers and then leave everything in God’s hands and see how He works in your life.

Prayer:

Father, through Christ I wish to glorify you as my Father. Grant that I, through the guidance of Your Holy Spirit, may be obedient in my quiet times with you. Amen.

TAKE TIME TO PRAY

Scripture:

“None of us lives to himself alone.” – Romans 14:7

Message:

People always find the time to do the things they want to do, but are quick to find excuses for not doing the things they don’t want to do. This happens in our spiritual life.

If you are making excuses as to why you can’t pray or spend time with God, ask yourself why you are making these excuses. Why is your prayer life without power? Why has your faith become a burden instead of an inspiration of hope and faith?

This happens when you no longer reach out to God in prayer, or if you only ever express your personal desires. True prayer broadens your spiritual and intellectual horizons, and makes your relationship with the Saviour more profound.

Prayer:

O Lord, please help me to develop a meaningful and powerful prayer life under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

CULTIVATING SPIRITUAL GROWTH

Scripture:

“Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, that is, Christ.” – Ephesians 4:15

Message:

Christianity without spiritual growth cannot bring a deep, true joy and satisfaction. When you received Christ into your life, you did not only accept a system of doctrine’s; you promised eternal faithfulness to Him because you believe in Him. You can only understand Him better if you share your life with Him, and stop focusing on yourself.

Growing in Christ is not an exercise meant to create a comfortable religious feeling far removed from the hard realities of life – it should rather inspire the believer to positive action.

Renew your prayer life; rediscover the Spirit of Christ in the Scriptures and see how growth in Christ will lead you to new dimensions of life.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, make my faith a dynamic power through the renewal of my prayer life and Bible Study. Amen.

TOGETHER WITH GOD

Scripture
“I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.” – Philippians 4:13.
Message

The Holy Spirit of God, who fills God’s entire Creation, can also live in your heart. Accepting this truth releases the power of God in your life. When you think of yourself as a part of God’s revelation of Himself, you enter into an intimacy with Him that will bring strength, balance, and vitality to your life.

When you realize that God created you, and that you are governed by His Spirit, you can also realize that your life should live up to His expectations. You no longer live to please yourself, but rather to do His will.

Through the grace of God and His Spirit, you can live a life pleasing to Him through the strength of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer
Merciful Lord Jesus, I accept the gift of the Holy Spirit, and therefore I can enjoy intimate fellowship with You, my Lord and my God. Amen.

PREPARE YOURSELF FOR LIFE THROUGH PRAYER

Scripture:

“Pray without ceasing.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Message:

The future is unknown but you can prepare for it by developing a healthy prayer life. This will provide you with strength in moments of weakness, and comfort in times of sorrow.

Many people will tell you that praying is a natural instinct. This may be true, but an effective prayer life is the result of a disciplined and sensitive attitude before God.

Share your joy with God in prayer while the sun shines and there will be no anxiety when the storm comes. You will merely share in the quiet conviction that God is in full control for every situation in life through prayer. God will do the rest!

Prayer:

How wonderful, heavenly Father, to praise and glorify You. I want to sing the praises of Your great love and faithfulness for all nations to hear. Amen.

GROW IN CHRIST

Scripture:
“He is the image of the invisible God” – Colossians 1:15
Message:
Paul says that Jesus Christ and the eternal God are equal – that the One is like the other.
This truth stirs one’s soul, and you may feel that such spiritual heights are beyond your reach. Jesus lived on such a high moral level, setting examples of how to respond in certain situations, that you cannot live up to His example on your own. Yet this truth can also inspire and elevate us.
The living Christ does not condemn people for their sins, but inspires them to reach unprecedented heights. Depending on the strength and intensity of our devotion to Him, we can, in a small way, become like Jesus. And that is God’s purpose for your life.

Prayer:
Stand by me, Lord Jesus, help me to grow into the likeness of your image through the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

ONLY JESUS

Scripture:

“When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus”. – Matthew 17:8

Message:

Perhaps it is time to pause for a while and examine your spiritual journey under the guidance and leadership of the Holy Spirit. Put all preconceived ideas aside and open up your spirit to His guidance.

It is the all-important sovereignty of Jesus Christ that generates a living faith in your heart. Faith is powerless and meaningless unless it is grounded in Christ and if He rules as King in your life.

If you allow the Holy Spirit to work freely in your life, He will lead you into a deeper and more intimate relationship with Christ. Jesus will begin to occupy the central position in your life.

Prayer:

Desire of my heart, I thank you that my heart thirsts for you all the time. Protect me from anyone or anyone or anything that could draw me away from experiencing your presence in my life. Amen.

LOVE BRINGS LIFE

Scripture

“We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers.” – 1 John 3:14

Message

Everything Jesus was, everything He taught, and everything He did, was a manifestation of God’s love. The love of God enriches the lives of everyone who allows Him to pour it into their hearts.

It is possible to experience the love of God firsthand and to allow your life to become a channel of God’s love. This is the wisest way we can choose to live. The opposite of love is hate.  Hate follows the path of bitterness, dissension and torn apart relationships.

When the love of God is a powerful force in your life and His love reaches out to others through you, your own life is enriched in a way you never thought possible.

Prayer

Lord God, through Your Holy Spirit please do the impossible and enrich my life through the wonders of Your love . Amen.

BE FERVENT AND PERSEVERE IN PRAYER

Scripture: “So He left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing. – Matthew 26:44

Some Christian’s wonder why, if God is all-seeing and omniscient, they still need to persevere in the discipline of prayer. They feel guilty about troubling God over and over with issues that He is already aware of.

Remember, you often know about problems in people’s lives but you do not usually intervene unless asked to do. If you feel that a particular matter in your life needs God’s intervention, do not

Hesitate to bring it before Him. Remind Him of His promises and ask Him to take care of the situation.

God will never tire of listening to you if you come to Him in the name of Christ.

Prayer: In distress I call to You, O Lord, because only you can grant me peace. Thank You for hearing my prayers and for always answering my cry for help. Amen.
