True Christianity

“Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you? – 2 Corinthians 13:5.
Many people have the misconception that Christians are weak, dull, and ineffective; purposefully cutting themselves off from the rest of the world.

There was nothing weak, commonplace, or ineffective about Jesus Christ. The Scriptures bear witness to His humanity and His divinity; to His firmness and tenderness; to His love – even when He was subjected to bitter hatred, barbaric torture and death.

This is the example that our Leader set for all Christians to follow. Allow Him to transform you into a strong and effective witness of the powerful truth of the gospel of Christ.

Thank You heavenly Father, that we are more than conquerors through Your Son and through Your Holy Spirit. Amen

STEADFAST IN FAITH

“Now be strong,” declares the Lord, “and work. For I am with you,” declares the Lord Almighty. – Haggai 2:4

In the initial exciting phase of a person’s born again life, the Lord’s work is done with zeal and enthusiasm. We are filled with the joy of a new life in Christ and we wish to share our feelings and ecstasy with others.

Whatever happens, do not succumb to the temptation to give up your work for Christ. Seek advice, help and guidance at all times but never allow discouragement to paralyze you in your honest pursuit to serve the Lord. Take courage and be steadfast in faith – through the mercy of Jesus Christ you will achieve success.

Your Creation, Lord will never perish; it is everlasting. Grant me the strength and make me Your servant so that I may share in the fulfillment of Your will. Amen.

RIDING ROLLER COASTERS

Scripture

“He will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.” – Psalm 91:11-12 (NLT)

Message

The highs and lows even in a single day can send your heart racing, emotions surging from anger to ecstasy in a matter of minutes. Thank God for the emotions! Emotions are a gift that helps connect us to God and others. They let us know we’re human, and very much alive. But they aren’t reliable drivers in the ride.

When we acknowledge that God alone directs our course and stay connected to Him—just like rollercoaster cars always keep on track—we can stay anchored even through the rises and falls of life. The twists and turns in life can be scary and exhilarating, nerve-wracking and incredible, unpredictable and delightful. Through it all, we can smile, knowing we’re held all the while by the strong, certain, and unbreakable grip of God. So today, sit back and enjoy the ride!

REMEMBERING HOLY WEEK

Scripture

“He made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God”. – 2 Corinthians 5:21 (CSB)

Message

As we begin our Holy Week celebration and head toward Easter Sunday, let’s remember the events leading to Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection and acknowledge their meaning. Reflect upon what happened on Palm Sunday, the Sunday before His crucifixion, when Jesus was welcomed into Jerusalem with coats and branches laid at His feet and people praising Him. Those shouting Hosanna, or “save us,” were looking for an earthly warrior to rescue them from the harsh Roman rule.

How great His love for each of us must truly be to have taken the punishment we deserve upon Himself! We’re like tiny grasshoppers compared to Him (Isaiah 40:22), yet He cared enough to do all that for us. This is why we must never forget how awesome His love is!

At 3 p.m. on Good Friday, Jesus breathed His last and died. He was placed in a tomb, which was sealed shut with a large stone and guarded by Roman soldiers.

Although Holy Week ends on Saturday, praise God the story doesn’t end there! On Easter Sunday morning, the stone that sealed the tomb was rolled away, and Jesus was resurrected (John 20). He overcame death so that those who trust in Him could also overcome death and one day live with Him in Heaven for all eternity.

Holy Week is about remembering the only One who is truly holy—Jesus Christ. This week, let’s take time to gratefully remember and keep alive in our hearts what Jesus, the perfect Lamb and the risen Savior, did for us years ago. He came. He died. And He rose again, so we could live in eternity with a loving God who gave His life for us in the greatest way possible.

As we walk through Holy Week, we encourage you to revisit the details of Christ’s crucifixion, death and resurrection. Try reading through Mark 14-16. Take your time this week to read slowly and thoughtfully, as you prayerfully think about each of the events described there and their deep and life-changing meaning for each of us.

THE RIGHT FIT

“You had wandered away like sheep. Now you have returned to the one who is your Shepherd and Protector.”  1 Peter 2:25.

It isn’t easy to keep up appearances, staying on top of the trends and keeping up a “successful” image. And it isn’t just about clothes. It’s job performance at work; The parenting or relational prowess at home. For some, it’s the size of the house, the type of car, the right neighborhood, or the best school. Whatever it takes to declare to the world, “I have arrived. I’ve got it together. I, for one, know where I’m going.”

But God knows us better. It helps if we just pay attention to Him. He says that people are like sheep—they tend to go in circles when following cues from each other. If we want to know where to go, however, we have to follow the Shepherd.

When you get ready to meet your day today, let your mind look past the pressure of fitting in to following the only One with a real plan for your life. It might not look like everyone else’s plan. It might not even seem like a path to success. But in surrender to God’s lead, you will find yourself on the right path and in the sweetest of care.

PRODUCTIVE FAITH

Scripture

“He touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith will it be done to you.” – Matthew 9:29

Message

There are people who regard faith as a mere commodity, something that you have a lot or very little of, depending on the circumstances. You should, however, understand the importance and necessity of maintaining a disposition of expectation towards life. Only those who have an unfailing faith and trust in the Eternal God can face the future with courage and serenity. This great truth, and the acceptance of it in your life creates stability and enables you to face the future with confidence.

Prayer

Help me Lord, to be steadfast in my faith and to be forever devoted to Your work. Bless me in abundance and help me to use it to Your greater glory. Amen.

THE REFINING LOVE OF GOD

Scripture

“…Through the death on the cross…Christ has brought you into the very presence of God, and you are standing there before Him with nothing left against you… – COLOSSIANS 1:22 (TLB)”

Message

Everything that happens in our lives is a direct effect of God’s love, and its purpose is to put a floodlight on our need for Him. Some things humble, extracting fragments of pride we didn’t realize were keeping parts of us from all of Him. It’s always working good stuff in and bad stuff out, the refining love of God. It gives us an even clearer view of the cross and the One who carried it—the One who now carries us.

Let us pray:

Lord, keep my heart and mind on Your immeasurable sacrifice and faithful love.

LET JESUS GUIDE YOU

Scripture

“Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. We live by faith, not by sight. – 2 Corinthians 5:6-7” – 2 Peter

Message

How often have you experienced doubt, loneliness and anxiety? When an important decision has to be made do you find it difficult to make the right choice? If so, you are relying on your own limited insight.

Regardless of the circumstances, put your plans, your doubts, your fears and your problems before the Lord’s throne of grace and ask Jesus to be your Guide. Be sensitive to the whisperings and stirrings of the Holy  Spirit in your life, and face the future with faith and hope. You can rest assured that the living Christ will be by your side, leading and guiding you.

Prayer

Lord let Your kindly light guide me. Help me to understand that I should take life one day at a time and seek Your guidance in everything I do. Amen.

STEP FORWARD WITHOUT FEAR

Scripture

“You have made wide steps for my feet, to keep them from slipping”. – 2 Samuel 22:37 (TLB)

Message

There’s trust in stepping forward without fear. Our lives are a series of decisions to step in one direction or another. At times we won’t see the path ahead. The sweet assurance we have is that God will keep us from slipping. If He has to widen the steps beneath our feet or catch us when we fall, He will.

Let us pray:

Father, You are the rock beneath my feet and the refuge for my soul. Amen

FAITH IS A PROCESS OF GROWTH

Scripture

“Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” – 2 Peter 3:18

Message

Christian life is all but static. While the revelation of God through Jesus Christ was a unique miracle, man’s reaction to this manifestation of God’s love is not something that just happens in a person’s life only to be forgotten in the long run.

Despite past failures, the whisperings of the Holy Spirit will inspire you to develop an awareness of Christ’s indwelling presence. There is no end to this kind of growth and development because the more you become aware of Christ’s presence, the greater your love for Him becomes. This growth is the life-giving energy of your Christlikeness, enabling you to reach the  fruit-bearing maturity in His kingdom.
